Kappo Masa is seeking a friendly and organized Host/Hostess to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our guests, ensuring a warm welcome and a seamless dining experience. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong focus on customer service, and the ability to manage reservations, seating, and guest requests efficiently.

Primary Responsibilities Include, but not Limited to:*

* Greet all guests as they walk into the restaurant.

* Guiding guests to their table and communicating all guest correspondences with management and staff.

* Manage seating arrangements to ensure a balanced distribution of tables among servers.

* Engage with guests to create a welcoming and memorable dining experience.

* Provide excellent service, address guest inquires, concerns, and special needs.

* Handle guest complaints professionally, resolving issues or escalating to management as necessary.

* Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operations.

* Maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness and appearance throughout all areas of the restaurant both before, during and after service.

* Handle reservations, cancellations, and special requests via phone, OpenTable, or in-person.

* Confirm reservations and follow up with guests if needed.

* Attending all pre-shift meetings to learn of service expectations for the day/night.

* Handle administrative duties such as updating guest records, managing reservation software, and making confirmation calls.

* Adhere to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.

* Oversee the maintenance of the guest restrooms throughout the shift and communicate with management if there are any supply shortages.

* Maintain a polished and professional appearance according to the dress code.

* Follow all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.

* Reporting for your shift as scheduled and following the Company’s policies for tardiness and missing shifts.

* Demonstrate ethical workmanship that protects the assets and image of the Company.

*Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:*

* 2+ years of experience as a fine dining restaurant host.

* Familiar with hospitality industry’s best practices.

* Understanding of OpenTable and Tock.

* Strong interpersonal skills.

* Excellent verbal communication skills.

* Keen attention to detail.

* Analytical skills - the ability to compare, contrast and quality check work.

* Language skills – Fluency in English is necessary to perform the job.

* Knowledge of New York Department of Health standards and protocols.
