General Description: The assistant general manager is first and foremost an integral part of the floor management team overseeing daily service while also having a part in the beverage program. The Assistant General Manager primarily supports the General Manager in service and FOH operations while also coordinating at all times with the General Manager in all Chez Ma Tante bar-focused projects
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Promote and maintain a culture of hospitality
* Work 5 floor service shifts/week, including 4 closes
* Assist the General Manager in overseeing all FOH operations
* Be able to work calmly and professionally under pressure and act as a leader in difficult situations.
* Guest connections all across the dining room.
* Anticipates both guests and floor staff needs
ADMIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Office management and organization skills such as email communication and document edits.
* Lead the effort to establish new systems in order to streamline processes and production.
* Understands and assists in the processing of payroll, ensuring the labor cost is accurate and up to date, and all employees are properly paid
* Attend and assist in weekly meetings with Management.
* Staff Schedule
* Works in close collaboration with the General Manager to insure that all costs and revenue are being managed within the budget/guidelines with timely reporting
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS:
* Coach employees to improve themselves in a constructive and positive way.
* Monitoring and observing how the team is performing.
* Fosters an environment of generosity, focus, kindness and discipline amongst all staff
BEVERAGE MANAGEMENT TASKS:
* Coordinate with the General Manager on daily, weekly and seasonal beverage updates
* Insure Bar team is maintaning standards, working with in the guidelines provided during training
* Insure Bar team is keeping up with cleaning and organization of bar and walkins/lowboys
* Coordinate training along with General Manager of all new hires
* Participate in r&d for new cocktail changes each season
* Update bar menu descriptions specs, online menu, and checklists for bar side work
* Is obsessive with sanitary procedures, dining room cleanliness, proper uniforms, food handling and general maintenance of the dining room that are up to and beyond that of the Department of Health
* Builds a relationship of trust with the the head chef. Is collaborative and communicative of guest needs and is an ambassador of the kitchen and the restaurants values to the entire team
* Is physically present on the floor, and upholds professionalism at all times
* Enforces disciplinary action when needed with a focus on positive and constructive feedback
OTHER:
Willing to work potentially longer hours, different days than scheduled, and come in as support when needed.
