LOCATION
This position is located at Aman New York in New York City
POSITION
The Pastry Cook will maintain a superior production of breads, sweets, pastries, cakes, ice creams, sorbets, and fresh fruit jams, chocolates, etc. for the restaurant, special events, and amenities.
The position has an hourly rate of $32.09 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
* Consult with the pastry chef and other chefs to plan menus
* Execute all pastry orders and accommodate special requests
* Demonstrate skill in baking pastries, desserts, cakes, cookies, sweets, pies, etc.
* Create enticing confectionery decorations and delicious pastry fillings, as well as keeping up with new pastry baking techniques
* Apply classic pastry baking techniques when preparing traditional pastries
* Add novel, creative, and delicious pastry items to the existing selection
* Maintain pastry production sheet and follow through with assigned prep items
* Perform daily dry storage, walk-in refrigerator, and freezers inspected each of your shifts to ensure it is clean, and all pastry related items are put away properly
* Be aware of food cost by effectively scaling ingredients, minimizing waste, and preventing theft
* Monitor equipment and ensuring all specialized pastry baking tools are in working order
* Setting up workstations with all necessary supplies
* Ensure clear communication in the kitchen
* Ensure all orders are completed in time and with the correct priority
* Always maintain the highest level of cleanliness and hygiene standards
* Perform other task or projects as assigned by Management
Qualifications:
* Must have culinary degree
* Must have at least 2 years’ experience in a pastry position
* Thorough knowledge in pastry arts and techniques
* Experience in chocolate making
* Positive, engaging, and energetic personality
* Able to be organized, manage time wisely and work with little to no direct supervision
* Very high attention to detail and extensive service knowledge
* Sensitive to cultural nuances
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal on English
* Able to handle a multitude of tasks in an intense, fast paced environment
* Ability to maintain a clean and professional appearance as per company policies
* Ability to stand for extended periods of time
* Multi-lingual is a plus
* Department of Health and Hygiene certified
* ServSafe certified
