Job Overview

Masa NY is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and efficiency within the kitchen, as well as supporting chefs and kitchen staff in food preparation and service. This position offers a lot of potential and growth within the Company.

Primary Responsibilities Include, but not Limited to:

· Cleaning and sterilizing countertops, kitchen walls, stoves, ovens, grills and sinks.

· Cleaning the entire kitchen once it is closed to ensure it is ready for the next day.

· Maintaining food storage areas like freezers and refrigerators.

· Receiving deliveries and organizing them in the kitchen.

· Washing cutlery and glassware, pots, cutting boards and pans or utilizing the dishwasher depending on the equipment being washed

· Providing assistance to the Prep Cooks and other kitchen staff as needed.

· Supporting the Chef de Cuisine in basic food preparation like cutting ingredients, peeling and washing food items.

· Following New York Department of Health standards, procedures, and protocols when completing tasks.

· Complying with all Company guidelines, training procedures, and performance expectations.

· Regularly attending to your shifts and complying with the Company’s protocols regarding all absences and tardiness.

· Handling all Company curated plateware and glassware with meticulous regard and care.

· Communicating with BOH or FOH management regarding all breakage.

· Assure all equipment is operating accordingly and communicating with management when there is a maintenance issue.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

· 2+ years of experience as a Kitchen Porter.

· Strong interpersonal skills.

· Knowledge of New York Department of Health standards and protocols.

· Analytical skills - the ability to compare, contrast and quality check work.

· Strong verbal communication skills.

· Familiar with hospitality industry’s best practices.

· Language Skills – Fluency in English is necessary to perform the job.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
